Hello, I am a systems engineering

student at the Australian National University.

I am currently completing my third year of studies. I am currently in

the process of writing a project

plan for my final year project/thesis.

My project involves the design and

development of a total Knee support system, which externally connects to

the outside of the human leg. I understand that the knee is not a simple

hinge and the motion of the knee will be hard to be model, it will also

be hard to attach this device to the human body.

The objective of this project is to

provide an alternative to a total knee replacement or postpone it , to

help in the rehabilitation of a patient with severe knee trauma, and

the general case of supplying support to someone with knee problems.

I am inquiring for the purpose of

information about the motion of the knee, and information on

alternatives to attaching this kind of device to the human body. I have

spoken to the staff at canberra hospital (prosthesis department), they

have explained some concepts and been very helpful, they told me contact

you.

I understand if you are to busy, but if

you could even send internet addresses which are relevant to this topic

it would be much appreciated.
