I received a call today from a local orthopedic surgeon who just
performed a traumatic BK amputation(apx 15cm tibia). The young mans
leg was crushed, and unfortunately, in addition to the amputation,
his patella and most associated tendons were also removed. The
doctor wanted to know if I had experience with any similar patients
(I have not), and what outcome might be expected….
Any input would be helpful….
I am thinking along the lines of a prosthetic/orthotic hybrid that
would incorporate an orthotic extension assist knee mechanism
integrated into a BK prosthesis..
