The application period for two O&P professional development grants is now open: the Russell Walker, CP, LP, Emerging Leader Grant and the Todd Eagen Advocacy in Action Memorial Grant.
The grants, sponsored by Össur and presented by OPGA, are designed to provide funding for meaningful, nonclinical experiences that strengthen leadership skills, deepen advocacy engagement, and enhance connection with the patients and communities served by O&P professionals based in the United States.
The Russell Walker, CP, LP, Emerging Leader Grant pays tribute to Russell “Rusty” Walker, an O&P practitioner known for his passion for mentoring the next generation of O&P leaders. The Todd Eagen Advocacy in Action Memorial Grant honors the legacy of Todd Eagen, former president of OPGA, who worked tirelessly to elevate the O&P profession.
“At OPGA, our mission is to support and empower the individuals who drive the O&P profession forward,” said Jeff Kessler, director of OPGA. “These grants honor two remarkable leaders while helping today’s residents and certified practitioners strengthen their leadership capacity, expand their advocacy experience, and ultimately improve the lives of the patients they serve. We encourage all eligible professionals to apply and take advantage of this unique opportunity to grow both personally and professionally.”
Grant applications are due by March 6. A selection committee of O&P professionals will review all applications, and the recipients will be notified and announced at the end of March.
