The American Association of Breast Care Professionals (AABCP) announced that it has been added to an advisory panel for a breast cancer study based out of the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston. This three-year study, Contralateral Prophylactic Mastectomy and Breast Cancer: Clinical and Psychosocial Outcomes, is funded by the Patient Center Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI). The study’s primary goal is to examine the psychosocial factors involved in a woman’s decision to undergo a contralateral prophylactic mastectomy.
