Colleagues,
I have a new young patient with TAR (thrombocytopenia absent radius) syndrome. Presentation is somewhat similar to thalidomide syndrome, with shortened arms and in this case abducted wrists and thumbs. She and her mother are looking for a pair of devices to assist with grip at the normal level where the hands would be, such as for swinging from a bar or riding a bike. I have some ideas, but rather than invent the wheel I thought I’d see if anyone else has tackled this.
