I have just read the DMERC Region B supplier bulletin. We are instructed that
no addition codes may be used with a prefabricated orthosis. It would seem
that many prefabricated orthoses contain features than can be described only
with such codes. Any reaction? We are also instructed to code any of the stance
phase type knee joints with the drop lock code. I can’t help but think the
heavy hitters who developed these technologies must already be in the process of
obtaining specific codes, but in the meantime what is to be done?
