prosthetic feet, lower back pain – summary

Jacqueline Schmit

Thanks to all who have replied with regard to my search of different prosthetic

feet and their effects on lower back pain. In summary, I had found a Medline

search to provide many articles comparing different prosthetic feet and their

effects on gait. To save time and space, anyone interested in these articles

can email me directly for a copy. Oterhwise, web pages of various companies

providing prosthetic feet also helped in differentiating between the

components. Thanks again, and here is a listing of replies I received. Sorry

for the delay in getting this out

Original post:

I am new to this list, so it’s possible I’ve missed discussions on this topic.

I’m a master’s student researching the effects of different LE prosthetic

components and their effects on lower back pain. I’m attempting to do a lit

search, and have found some articles related to different prosthetic feet. Are

there any other suggestions or articles available on knees, pylons, etc.?

Thanks for any help, and I will post a summary of results.

Dear Jacqueline Schmit,

I am also a master student looking for articles. I found on internet a library

(University of Strathclyde ) that has bibliographies on many topics of

prosthetics. If you are interested, please take a look on

http://www.recal.org.uk

Hope you find what your looking for.

Hello Jacqueline Schmit

I just read your post on OANDP-L. I am moderator of AMP-L, an amputee

listserv at University of Washington. You are welcome to subscribe and

post your questions or query to gauge response from amputees who might

be interested in your research. Of course, if it is strictly literature

and not real-life or anecdotal experience you seek, well, it might not

be beneficial to you.

Be happy to send you subscription info.

Hi Jacquline

Best place for a search on P+O articles is the Library at the national

centre for training and education in P+O in Glasgow

http://recal.org.uk

They have a very comprehensive database of articles etc
