Our question was, “How long do you think an ideal workweek should be?” Overwhelmingly it should be four days, 68 percent of the respondents said. Making your own 40-hour schedule was chosen by 24 percent, and six percent were fine with the typical five days.
“Six days. I love my job,” said one follower. Another follower chose 4.5 days. When asked why that amount, he responded, “That’s what I’m doing now and it’s great! I still have all five days available to see patients, but I get home to my family a little earlier on Friday.”
Our Twitter followers were split between four and five days as the ideal schedule.
Our poll question last week focused on why people quit their jobs. The number-one reason, according to those who answered, is a toxic work environment, at 51 percent. Twenty-three percent said they will quit their job because of lack of support; 22 percent said low wages/salary, and four percent said something else.
“People quit bosses,” said one follower. “And lack of support,” said another.
On Twitter, 60 percent said they’ll leave a job because of a toxic work environment at; 20 percent said low wages/salary, and 20 percent said lack of support.
Now that the AOPA 2023 Policy Forum is underway in Washington DC, we thought this would be a good week to center on advocacy in O&P—namely what’s the best way to engage.
