Our Family

Tonja Randolph

Tonja Randolph, President & Publisher
Tonja Randolph founded Western Media LLC in January 2002 after first entering the O&P field in 1994.

In 1997, she was hired by JKS Publications to lead a new magazine for the international market, O&P World. Having just graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in marketing from Metropolitan State University, Denver, the role was a perfect match. Thus began the first-hand experience needed to start a new magazine from the bottom up–the international travel was icing on the cake.

Launching The O&P EDGE was a dream come true for this aspiring entrepreneur. Recently launching new products, such as EDGE Marketing Services and EDGE Quick Credit, we now offer marketing services to independent facilities and practitioners, and clinicians can now earn CEUs on select products advertised in The O&P EDGE in the comfort of their homes or offices.

In her spare time, she enjoys dining out with her husband, Rob, and spending time with their two daughters, Ashley and Casey; spoiling their dogs, Colby and Cali; cheering on the fourteen-year-olds on the softball team Rob and Ashley coach; shopping; and traveling. She can be reached at .

Andrea Spridgen

Andrea Spridgen, Editor in Chief
Andrea Spridgen is the editor in chief of The O&P EDGE. She transitioned into this role in 2013 after having served as the managing editor since 2011. She has worked in editing, communications, and marketing for more than 15 years. Prior to joining Western Media, she worked in the education and nonprofit industries, including her role as managing editor of a magazine devoted to therapeutic equine-assisted activities. Andrea earned a bachelor’s degree in English from Regis University, Denver, and a master’s degree in English literature from St. Cloud State University, Minnesota.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, adult daughter, and two rescue German Shepherd dogs, and reading Arthurian and fantasy literature. Having minored in dance in college, she now indulges her passion for the art form with a weekly ballet class and regular attendance at Colorado Ballet performances. She can be reached at .

Victoria Clark

Victoria Clark, Senior Editor
Victoria Clark has been with Western Media since 2012. Her role as associate editor of The O&P EDGE affords her the opportunity to interact with most aspects of the magazine and to learn about many of the intricacies of O&P.

Victoria's writing and editorial work spans more than fifteen years, throughout which she has produced and delivered print and online content that helps professional audiences enhance their work. Her projects include creating grammar and business writing courses for adult learners, professional development for K-12 teachers, and now helping O&P professionals navigate the healthcare landscape. She received a bachelor's degree in English from Colorado State University, Fort Collins.

Once Victoria steps away from her computer screen at work, she often picks up another screen and continues reading. She can be reached at .

Betta Ferrendelli

Betta Ferrendelli, News Editor

Betta received a bachelor’s degree in mass communications and journalism from Metropolitan State University, Denver. She has been an award-winning journalist since 1989, having worked at newspapers in Denver, Seattle, and Albuquerque, New Mexico. Her professional motto is “The answer is always no unless you ask.”

She is also a published author with an award-winning mystery series featuring newspaper reporter (what else?) Samantha Church. She has also published two award-winning contemporary women’s fiction novels. Betta enjoys sports of all kinds, especially running, hiking, and playing golf. She can be reached at

Karyn Sader

Karyn Sader, Art Director
Joining Western Media in early 2014, Karyn brings a solid foundation of magazine design and creative services management to the table. She has supervised the design and production process for numerous publications, including Newspaper & Technology, Financial Advertising Review, Twins, and Metro Magazine. Although Karyn ran a design studio for several years and ventured into the fields of higher education and advertising, publication design is her true passion. The magazines she has helped create have won international and national awards for their design and editorial content. Additionally, she is a published writer with a degree in journalism/mass communication/graphic design from The University of Iowa, Iowa City.

Originally from northern Minnesota, Karyn escaped the extreme cold and bird-sized mosquitoes as soon as she was legally able. An avid reader, she also enjoys hiking, running, camping, and whitewater rafting with her husband, who is a practicing architect, and their two children. She can be reached at .

Heather Swanson

Heather Swanson, Graphic Designer
Heather hails from the great state of Wisconsin, where she earned a B.A. in journalism from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Coming up with creative and innovative design solutions is both fulfilling and a passion for Heather. She has a background in magazine and newspaper design, marketing, advertising, and copywriting. Heather ran her own successful design studio for more than 15 years and worked with clients including Comcast and Colorado Country Life magazine, and various nonprofit organizations. She has designed everything from annual reports to product catalogs. Heather also enjoys photography; her favorite subjects are her three children and the natural beauty of Colorado. She and her husband, Mark, live in the Denver suburbs and enjoy traveling abroad. The most exotic place they’ve visited is Morocco. She can be reached at .

Marti K. Randolph

Marti Randolph, Graphic Designer
Marti has been with the company since its inception in 2002. For the first several years of the magazine, Marti and her daughter-in-law and president and publisher, Tonja Randolph, worked on the publication in the basement of Tonja's home.

Marti has been working in the O&P field since 1990. She started as an administrative assistant to the general manager of Scott Orthopedics in Denver, Colorado. In 1995, she moved to Pagosa Springs, Colorado, to be the office manager and assist Kandee Stephens with O&P Business News, the first independent O&P magazine of its kind. It was there that Marti found her niche in the magazine world when she began helping with layout and design. With her fine arts and computer graphics background, production on the magazine came naturally for her and it is what she enjoys doing. Marti has semi-retired and is enjoying yard work and mingling with friends. She can be reached at .
