The Durable Medical Equipment Medicare Administrative Contractors (DME MACs) will host a virtual public meeting to solicit stakeholder comments for a proposed revision to the knee orthosis Local Coverage Determination (LCD). The meeting will be held on August 27 at 10 a.m. ET.
Those interested in presenting oral comments during the meeting must submit early registration by August 6 at 5 p.m. ET, and any material, such as slides, to be presented during the virtual open meeting must be emailed by August 13 at 5 p.m. ET.
The revision is proposed as follows:
Knee Orthoses (DL33318): Proposing modifications to the coverage criteria for knee orthoses with single or double upright, adjustable flexion and extension joint, medial-lateral and rotation control, with varus/valgus adjustment for the management or treatment of ambulatory Medicare beneficiaries with pain or reduction in mobility and/or function due to medial or lateral tibiofemoral osteoarthritis.
Stakeholders who indicate in their registration that they intend to present oral comments must consent to being recorded. The amount of time allotted for commenters’ presentations will be determined by the number of registrations. Prior to the meeting, information regarding the allotted speaking time will be provided to those who registered to present oral comments.
Parties interested in listening to the comments may either register before the open meeting date or dial into the meeting. By registering for the meeting, attendees can view the web presentation while the meeting takes place. The DME MACs will publish the open meeting recording on their websites.
