Bertil Allard passed away on January 14. He was born in 1942.
Allard was the founder of Allard Support for Better Life, based in Sweden. Allard’s son, Peter Allard, is the current owner of the company. Allard USA was founded in 2006 as a US market subsidiary of the company.
Allard’s career in O&P began in 1975, when he led Sweden’s LIC Division for Rehabilitation Products. In 1983, he became president of O&P company Camp Scandinavia, and acquired it in 1996. The company still operates under the Camp Scandinavia name in Nordic countries.
Bertil’s commitment to research and patient-centered design culminated in the 1997 introduction of ToeOFF, the world’s first carbon composite AFO.
“Bertil Allard’s influence lives on through every step made possible by the innovations he championed. His leadership, integrity, and relentless pursuit of better solutions continue to inspire progress in orthotic care worldwide,” Allard USA said.
