Job Description
Location: Duncanville, TX (Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex)
Company Description
Lifecare Prosthetics and Orthotics is a privately held O&P practice specializing in lower extremity prosthetics and comprehensive orthotic services. We collaborate with patients, physicians, therapists, and families to provide compassionate care and personalized treatment plans that help patients achieve their mobility goals.
Role Description
Lifecare Prosthetics and Orthotics is a growing private O&P practice seeking an experienced Orthotic Technician/O&P Technician to join our in-house lab team and support our expanding orthotic caseload.
This role is primarily orthotics-focused and involves the hands-on fabrication, modification, adjustment, and repair of custom orthotic devices, with particular emphasis on thermoforming, plaster modification, and some metal bending. The technician will work closely with our clinicians to support timely, high-quality patient care while also being comfortable working independently in the lab.
We are seeking a candidate with prior O&P technical experience and are willing to provide additional training to further develop and strengthen the right candidate’s fabrication skills. We value precision, craftsmanship, efficiency, problem-solving, and a willingness to continue learning.
While our immediate need is primarily orthotic fabrication, candidates with prosthetic fabrication or finishing experience are also encouraged to apply. As our practice continues to grow, there is opportunity for the position to expand into additional areas of O&P fabrication based on the technician’s skills and interests.
This is an opportunity to join a collaborative private practice where technical expertise is valued, communication between clinicians and technicians is encouraged, and the quality of your work has a direct impact on the patients we serve.
Full-time availability is preferred; however, part-time candidates with relevant O&P technical experience will also be considered.
Competitive compensation based on O&P fabrication experience.
Required Qualifications
- Prior technical experience in orthotics and/or prosthetics, including hands-on fabrication, modification, or repair of O&P devices
- Ability to work with power tools and materials used in device fabrication, modification, and repair
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with clinicians and other team members
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to meet fabrication and patient-care deadlines
- Professional demeanor and commitment to high-quality patient care
- Physical ability to perform lab-related tasks, including standing, lifting, tool use, and repetitive motions
- Ability to maintain a clean, organized, and safe lab workspace
- High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with orthotic fabrication, including thermoforming and plaster modification
- Prosthetic fabrication, modification, or finishing experience
- Prior experience working in an O&P patient-care environment
- O&P technical certification or formal technical training
- Other relevant fabrication, technical, or vocational training
- Interest in continuing to develop O&P fabrication skills as the practice grows
