James A. “Jim” Brown, CPO, passed away on January 11 after a battle with gastric cancer.
Brown, 63, worked as a practitioner and branch manager at the Des Moines, Iowa, Hanger Clinic since 2009; prior to that he worked at Hanger’s Hurst, Texas, patient care facility.
According to an online obituary, Brown began his O&P career in 1968 and was very dedicated to his patients.
“I had the pleasure of working with Jim at ACTRA Rehabilitation, while he lived in the Milwaukee area,” said Joel Kempfer, CP, FAAOP, in an OANDP-L listserv posting. “He was a man of many talents and interests beyond his knowledge of O&P.”
Brown was also a classic car enthusiast and a member of the Iowa Studebaker Club.
Brown is survived by his wife, Tina; sons, Christopher and Kevin (Connie); two grandchildren; five siblings; and numerous nieces and nephews.
