Charity Care Prosthetics

Caryn Earl

Does anyone else work in a hospital based department and receive requests for provision of services to unfunded patients? We are trying to change our policies surrounding these services and conflicted by the charitable mission of the hospital vs the hospital’s concern for the financial well-being of the department. Open to all ideas and thoughts to try and stop this from getting out of control. Charitable prosthetic provision has risen from 4% to 14% in the last year.
