[BULK] Suspension ideas

Armstrong, Greg

I am asking for ideas and thoughts on suspension:

7 year old male with PFFD that’s been amputated to Symes with a moderately bulbous end (not enough for effective suspension). Limb is short enough to require a mechanical knee but too long to consider pin lock. The socket is sub-ischial. When we first met he was using a Coyote lock that was improperly attached in the socket and which mom and child did not like so I put him in a lanyard. This method had issues with needing to be frequently replaced and I didn’t like the lateral displacement of the limb but no complaints from the patient. Someone suggested a Revo and we tried that with the button placed anteriorly. The Revo has broken off twice in as many weeks so I fashioned a Velcro lanyard to get by until we decide what to do next. My inclination is to go back to the Coyote but properly laminate into the socket. He also has past history using a split pelite liner. Hip is only moderately stable and there are future surgical plans but this kid will reject an ischial weight-bearing socket. *There is not enough space to consider a pin lock.
