â€DMEPOSsuppliers should continue to look to the referring physicians for the ICD 10diagnosis. However, physicians have been granted a 12-month flexibility periodin which they do not have to submit diagnoses codes to the highest level ofspecificity. The physicians’ claims need only have a code with the correctfamily of diagnosis codes. DMEPOS are not allowed the same grace period. DMEPOSsuppliers must bill with an ICD-10 code to the highest level of specificity. “
Does that sound challenging when orthotists/prosthetists are not diagnosticians? Can we just use common sense and assign the ICD 10 ourselves?
Does the ICD 10 we use for billing have to be a part of the physicians medical record?
