My patient is a 79 y.o. female with severe scoliosis and MS, still ambulatory with walker. Therapist wants patient to have a back brace to support spine in most neutral position patient can achieve to keep back pain from reducing patient’s activity level. Too much spinal deformity to make a rigid/ semi rigid spinal system comfortable. Plus, spinal deformity causes brace migration to be a serious issue. Is there such a thing as a custom LS corset with or without elastic material, stays, or other contourable options? Is there a company that makes them? Would a custom corset be covered by Medicare?
