Microprocessor Prosthetic Knee

Wil

Hello Colleagues and Guests,

Just when the you think you’ve got it figured out, to some extent at
least, along comes another zinger. Last Friday, the Jurisdiction B DME
MAC released a new update regarding the microprocessor knee. According
to what we now read, the Ossur Rheo is the only knee that CMS has
designated as a K4 system with a high activity knee frame code L5930. No
other knee that we can find is allowed to use that code with Medicare.
In our view, that is a very interesting development that might lead to
some disgruntled manufacturers. I’m not quite sure how these codes were
reviewed, or by whom, but it seems that someone is pushing buttons
somewhere.

Is this making sense to everyone else?

Onward we go.
