TKR for trans-tibial amputee

John Boldt

I am currently treating a 42 y/o female with a Rt trans-tibial amputation secondary to trauma who has been recommended for total knee replacement. The surgeon admits he has never attempted this and has not given her any indication as to what the outcome success rate may be. Has anyone had an existing trans-tibial patient go through TKR and if so what was the outcome? I would appreciate experiences both positive or negative to discuss with the patient and her surgeon. Thank you.
