Call for volunteers in Ecuador…expenses paid

CALL FOR VOLUNTEER PROSTHETISTS: TRAVEL TO ECUADOR– EXPENSES PAID

The Range Of Motion Project (ROMP) is receiving applications for volunteer
CP’s to participate in a week-long project in Quito, Ecuador in October
2011. ROMP is partnering with the Fundacion Hermano Miguel (FHM) in Quito.
FHM is an Ecuadorian non-profit organization providing O&P and
Rehabilitation services to people with disabilities since 1984. FHM was
recently awarded a contract to fit several hundred amputees with
high-quality prostheses. In order to meet the demands of this contract FHM
is looking for help. We are inviting all ABC certified Prosthetists to take
part in this project in Ecuador. The first group of 4 CP’s will be
scheduled to fly to Quito October 1st. Future trips in November and
December to be determined. The length of stay is flexible from 10 days to 1
month.

Trip includes:

· Reimbursement of flight costs

· Housing and food covered during stay

· Translators provided during project

Project:

· Fabrication and fitting of amputees (especially upper extremity)

· All parts, materials, lab/clinic space provided

· Will be working with Otto Bock K2 level technology and Hosmer
body-powered prostheses

· Molds and measurements have already been taken

· Volunteer CP’s responsible for modifying, fabrication, fitting,
alignment, and delivery

· Working with team of Ecuadorian prosthetists/technicians

· Project to take place in beautiful Quito, Ecuador

REQUIREMENTS and CONSIDERATIONS

· ABC Certified Prosthetist in good standing

· Scan and return attached ROMP volunteer application form via email

· Scan and return updated resume to rompinfo@gmail.com

· Applicants with extensive upper extremity experience will be given
preference

· Spanish is not a requirement but those who speak fluently will be
given preference

· Volunteers who can stay for longer period of time will be given
preference.

· Open application period (*early applicants will be given
preference)
