Hi all,
I’m changing a client from a wood socket to a fibre glass socket. I’m sticking with the quad suction, as to not change too much at once(changing off 35 years of a hydracadence and wood socket). No matter what changes are done to the socket, we can’t seem to achieve an optimal fit. There seems to be no ideal volume, he goes from too tight(no signs of it on the residual limb) to comfortable tightness for him, but then hitting on the distal end, which he can’t tolerate. The measurements are exactly the same on the new check socket as on the old wood socket, but he finds it uncomfortable no matter what changes are done. I think that it has something to do with the plastic check socket having different friction properties. Has anyone seen this in the past? If so, was there a solution? Thanks for the help!
