As far as a elbow orthosis for extreme sports I’ve found that custom works
best. I’ve made both laminated and polypro type orthoses. The key to good
functional and protective elbow orthoses is the joint alignment and knowing
the stresses that the particular sport will apply to the joint and how much
force is being applied. If all you want to do is stop hyper extension then
OTS orthoses can work but if you are looking for more control custom is the
way to go. You are able to set your trimlines and also leave plastic for
additional protection that you can’t do with OTS orthoses.

townsend makes one also, i consider it better than donjoy for sports
I have used the Townsend custom Elbow orthosis on a bull rider (rodeo). It
was reasonably low profile and very durably constructed. It fit well and the
patient has not returned with any problems (although that may just mean that
the bull won).

My advice on the DJ elbow brace: don’t waste your money on it, it’s bulky
and over priced. Make your own, that’s what we’re trained to do. Here’s what
