“Wiggly” is really “woolly” worms and apparently used as stumps sock filler
from unravelled wollen stump socks.

mystery of “wiggly” is really “woolly” and has been resolved 🙂

“My guess is these are plastic artificial fishing worms that you purchase
from WalMart, etc. Sounds strange, but I see no reason why these would not
work to help fill a distal end socket void. I would certainly be an
inexpensive way to pad a socket.”

bottom of their sockets. Woolly worms may be the same as wiggly worms, if
so, all it is, is an unravelled woolen stump sock. I hope this information

“When I worked in the UK we would pull wool socks apart line by line and pop
them in the bottom of a socket in order to provide a gentle sensation to
maintain vascularisation. The reason for pulling apart the woollen socks
was that due to having been stitched they remained coiled and springy.
(When they pack down, you throw them in the washing machine (in a stocking)
and they “spring” back to life.) This was generally done to fill any space
caused by shrinkage and prevent the potential for varicose hyperplasia; we
called these “woolly worms” …
maybe that is what they are looking for??”
