Hello List – Am currently seeing 73 yo patient with a left Boyd amputation
and Right BKA secondary to necrotizing fascitis 10+ yrs ago. Boyd is
currently using Syme’s type prosthesis with pelite type insert,
Chopart/springlite foot with posterior opening. Right BKA using pelite
insert with PTB-SCSP. Pt requesting lower bulk fitting for left. (this
prosthesis is somewhat bulky at ankle regions but fits relatively well) BKA
needs refitting. Questions are what is the list experience with silicone
“booty” type prostheses? Who fabs them? What is the durability? What fitting
problems were encountered?
I have never fit or used one and am just starting to research. Any
insights/suggestions prior to my spinning my wheels would be appreciated.
Finances are not a problem – for a change. Thanks in advance.
