Dominican and bilateral arm amputee Yovanny Planco recently recieved the
benefits from how multiple organizations and people in the USA can work
together and help a amputee become whole again, even though they didn’t
live in this country and do not speak English.

Only in America !

The Barr Foundation, Advanced Prosthetics & Orthotics of America in Orlando,
Florida, G.O. Ministries based in Louisville, Kentucky,
Orlando Regional General Hospital’s staff physician John Connolly M.D in
Orlando , Peter Nohre of Otto Bock Health Care and Jack Richmond of
Fillauer/ Hosmer Dorrance joined the team effort which was perfectly
orchestrated and coordinated by Eric Kotter, business development director ,
Nora Rosario ( translator and APOA orthotic fitter and office assistant)
and Fred Estok LP at Advanced P & O of America.

The grand finale and final prosthetic rehabilitation of Yovanny was provided
in a luncheon tribute on Friday March 15, 2004 in Orlando at Lee’s Lakeside
Restaurant and hosted by APOA owners Rod and Stella Friedland who also
subsidized the fitting.

All organizations involved were represented and award plaques provided to
those that assisted in this effort.

After a six (6) month effort to obtain a medical visa for Yovanny and his
wife Neidi to come to Orlando, finding a residence for them to live in
while Yovanny underwent treatment at APOA , the hard work succeeded
expectations which was displayed at the luncheon for all to see ast Friday.

Listed below are the individuals that united to common cause and provide
this independent man to regain his ability to continue supporting his family
and return to the Dominican Republic as a whole person.
