skin and foot options for yoga instructor

Walter Afable

I am looking for options for endoskeletal skin and foot selections for
a young, lightweight yoga instructor. The patient has a very long BK
residuum. The prosthesis has 3mm elastomer cushion liners, a flexible
inner socket, a laminated socket frame with reduced trim lines, and a
custom-shaped foam cover.

The patient does not like wearing suspension sleeves because of the
posterior bunching which occurs when performing many basic yoga
positions. The skin should therefore be durable, compressive, and be
able to be worn “long”, used as an auxiliary suspension sleeve.
Cosmesis is important but not a primary concern.

Patient currently uses a juvenile SACH foot for flexibility at the toe
but states that even greater flexibility is desired. (I’ve considered
contacting Bob Radocy at TRS for something similar to the feet he’s
made for toddlers or flexible upper extremity TDs.) Again, cosmesis
is important so as to not scare her new students, but it is not a
primary concern here.

Any skin or foot recommendations or stories of success with similar
patients are greatly appreciated. I will post a summary of responses
in several weeks.

Thanks in advance,

Walter P Afable, CP
