Replies to my glove question. below is the original question and answers.
thanks all. Paul Edman

Hi all, I see a gentleman who is constantly tearing holes in the finger
tips
of his glove. He works in an office and isn’t terribly tough on things.
We’ve tried almost every glove and hand I can think of. Does anyone know of
a durable glove that has worked well?

Ossur has a range of Cosmetic Gloves made in PVC which are mechanically very
strong. These gloves are available for Össur Cosmetic/Passive Hands, Hosmer
Cosmetic & Mechanical Hands and Otto Bock Functional Hands (both Myo- and
Mechanical). For further details fill free to contact Ossur Customer Service
at +800-233-6263 or me.

Silicone gloves could be tearing after short time of use specially in the
finger tips of the Myo- or Mechanical hand.

What kind of Hand is your patient using and what kind of material have you
tried for the Gloves?

our firma PROTOS are producing parts for hand handicapped.
We configured our firma 11 years ago. I am using our gloves on my
myoelectrical prosthesis personaly for all life actions.
You can see my myoelectric hand on exhibition file-exhibition1.jpg.
Householding works, garden works, sports, machinery and electrotechnical
workshop, office, e.t.c.

We are sending in enclosure our catalogue file-protos.pdf with color tints
of our gloves file-colors.pdf.
Our prices are on file-offer-order6.doc
We are looking for dealers in USA also.

I had a patient that had the same problem. She did not do heavy work, mostly
office and typing. I gave her some pedorthic cloth toe covers and the problem
was solved. These came as single units. You could try cutting off the tips of
the fingers of a glove and make them as long as you need. These could be
leather or wool, etc. I don’t know the application that the patient needs.
Hope this helps.

Call Rick Schmierer at Otto Bock. As a user, he has tried most all of the
gloves and may be able to point you in the right direction. 800-328-4058 x

I consulted with Fran Hallet at Hosmer. She is their glove
specialist.
She offered three practical resolutions for your patient.
1) There is available a cotton underliner for gloves that reduces
friction
under the glove
2) If the occupational environment allows, the patient can wear rubber
fingertip protectors
during work and lastly,
3) The tips of the fingers on the prosthetic hand can sometimes be
softened
to prevent cutting the glove material
