Publishes Senior Step Resource Guide

The Amputee Coalition of America (ACA) is proud to announce its newest = publication, Senior Step, a 96-page, resource guide to support and = educate older amputees, their caregivers and their services providers.

Aging baby boomers, diabetes, obesity, and a sedentary lifestyle are all = contributing factors to an increase in amputations. We know, however, = that education and a commitment to lifestyle changes can prevent or = improve the conditions that place older Americans at risk for amputation = and enhance the quality of life for those who have already had an = amputation.

Senior Step is a tool to educate older amputees and to help their = caregivers and service providers become better informed about their = psychosocial and rehabilitation needs. Topics include: resources for = recovery, coping with grief and depression, safety, pain management, = prosthetic decision-making, exercise and disease management. An = annotated bibliography of print, video, and Web resources is included.
