what is an orthopaedic technologist?

Hello list,
I have recently heard of a profession known as “Orthopaedic Technologist”.
Does anyone know if this is the same thing as a cast room technician? Are
they qualified to fit custom bracing? And if so, do they require the
supervision of a certifee or pedorthist? I apoligize for my ignorance…Any
information on this would be appreciated.
