Advanced Training Series: Overview of Gait Analysis

This 3-day Advanced Training Course is aimed at prosthetists and orthotists who want to increase their knowledge of gait analysis technology, terminology and data interpretation. Through demonstrations in our VA Chicago Motion Analysis Research Laboratory, prosthetists and orthotists will become familiar with gait analysis procedures and the type of data produced. Lectures and case study presentations will encourage participants to develop a basic understanding of normal gait and familiarize themselves with deviations that are typically observed in persons who walk with prostheses or orthoses.
Participants will develop an appreciation of how gait analysis may be used within prosthetics and orthotics, and help them become aware of both the strengths and the weaknesses of gait analysis, what it can and cannot do to help in clinical P&O practice.
This knowledge should also facilitate understanding of gait analysis methodologies described in the relevant literature.
