I just did an Alpha liner on a symes with a medial door about 3 months ago
and the client loved it. No liner breakdown, yet. I think in symes RL’s that
are more bulbous, there will be problems. As far as the concern about distal
weight bearing, I modified the cast as OWW recommends, but allowed distal
weight bearing. This probably was not as much as the client had before in her
pelite liner, but she in fact preferred the new design. This is the first one
that I have done so I don’t have much to go on. Hope it helps.
