Dear US-OANDP-L Members
NAAOP has just received clarification this morning from HCFA that the
deadline of February 15, 2000, posted in the Federal Register more
specifically relates to the completion of the “forms” which will be used in
running he competitive bidding project. Therefor, there is still additional
time for comment and discussion regarding the inclusion of Orthotics in this
process. We are seeking to clarify how much time we will continue to have
for comment.
Regardless, NAAOP is continuing to press forward with it’s position to not
have Orthotics or Prosthetics included in the competitive bidding project, as
identified in letters faxed to HCFA on Friday, February 11, 2000. NAAOP was
also advised that our letters have be received and our position will be taken
under consideration as HCFA finalizes it plans on what will be included for
the competitive bidding project.
We will keep you informed via OANDP-L of further updates or action that may
be necessary on this important issue.
