I have to agree with Morris Gallo; we need to communicate to our
legislators via letters, fax, and phone calls (I don’t know if email is
effective either, but if you have already tried the previous three, then
this is just one more avenue).
So, I PROPOSE THAT WE ALL TRY TO COMMUNICATE TO OUR LEGISLATORS. At this
final hour, a grass roots effort is the only way we are going to be able
to get our legislators attention.
I have enclosed three links in this email to make the process easier:
* For a list of your Senators and their addresses, phone #’s, and
emails go to:
http://www.senate.gov/contacting/index_by_state.cfm
* For the same list of your Congressman, go to:
http://congress.org/capdir.html
* For information on how to communicate to your representatives (how
to address them in a letter, who to talk to in their office, how to
set an appointment, etc) go to: Capitol Hill Basics
I would also like to get a consensus of the main ideas we wish to convey
to our legislators so that we can make an outline or sample letter
available to the list. To get this started, I will propose the
following:
1. 1. Avoid controversy or attacking the Bills
2. 2. Support and give arguments for Language that advocates flat
educational standards, namely CAAHEP
3. 3. urge legislators to protect the disabled while they are at the
same time protecting medicare from fraud and abuse. (chooseing
CAAHEP does this better than leaving the door open to whomever the
HHS Secretary chooses).
4. 4. If applicable site the language in your state that supports
educational standards and Grandfathering.
If you are interested, please email me your ideas so that we can post
a consensus asap. That way, we won’t each forget one or two ideas when
we write.
Thanks,
Matt Bailey, CPO, LPO
