Adaptive Driving

Katherine Binder

To all amputees, orthotists, prosthetists;

Looking for information rgarding state laws and adaptive equipment for

driving.

What is the insurance companys’ policy on equipment for amputees or

driving with and orthosis?

Does the insurance company or the State Motor Vehicle require equipment

for amputees?

If a person has an amputation or recives an orthosis are they required

to report it to their Insurance company? to Motor Vehicle?

What happens if they don’t report it and then are involved in a MVA?

Is adaptive equipment covered by insurance?

Are driver training lessons covered?

Any other problems encountered in trying to drive again?

Thank you
