Dear List
I kept an article on file from O & P Business News, Jan 15 1998 about this
type of joint that Nasa and Horton’s Orthotic Lab designed to facilitate the
gait of patients with lower extremity weakness. I have a patient who has
progressive myopathy and doesn’t want to pursue bilat. locking KAFO’s. He
has grade 1 quads and hamstrings. Amazingly he walks very well without
braces and free swinging knees but locks the legs at midstance for
stability. I believe this brace is appropriate for this individual but I
have been unsuccessful at sourcing out the lab. Does anyone have knowledge
of this design or product? Is it available yet to Certified Orthotists?
Thank you in advance.
