Re: Bob you make a perfect argument….

Wade;

Thank you for your kind thoughts below. I think you know if the vote were

held today I would not be comfortable with what the average professional knows

about the process or about the structure of this “Bold New Venture.” However,

it is not being held today and there is no select group of people trying to

ramrod a manufacturer or large corporate controlled organization down anyone’s

throat in a “rush to judgment.” As a young practitioner the demagraphic you

represent is the best and brightest of our profession. You are being asked to

be open to the possibility that you could, quite possibly, create something

new and different from anything that has been tried before. Soon you will see

the rough draft of the bylaws the steering committee has been working on and

you will have the opportunity to pick it apart and rewrite it to the point

where you would be able to support the creation of this Bold New Organization.

One in step with the times your generation is working in – the 21st Century.

I do not believe keeping an open mind and contributing to the creation of such

an organization diminishes one’s love for the Academy. Nor does it mean you

(or I) are somehow less loyal to our fellow professionals. To the contrary,

after all is said and done, knowing you voted for or against something (you

can honestly say you gave your best effort to trying to produce) will leave

you with a sense of pride, focus and direction.

I am committed to doing my best to try and create an organization which

secures the viability of the O&P profession (practitioners, business owners

and manufacturers) for generations to come. That is all I ask anyone else to

do. If you do that and you find you are still unable to vote for it, so be

it. I will have the same option.

Thanks;

Bob
