At one time PEL Supply carried a one handed rapid closure device for a below
knee corset. The laces of the leather corset were threaded into this metal
device and tightened to the proper tension. The leather corset could be donned
in the normal manner and then the amputee would hook metal eyelets over metal
tabs and by moving a thin lever about 5 inches long the corset would be pulled
tight around the thigh.
I have a below the knee client that has arthritic hands and this device would
serve him better then the Velcro straps he is now trying to use. This was a
unique product with a limited but, niche market. The folks at PEL supply said
they got them from OWW and OWW said they got them from WPS.
Does anyone know who may still be making this device or a source where to
obtain one?
