For the first part of the topic, we wanted to know what clinicians thought were the advantages to wearing a cosmesis. 39 percent said a prosthetic cover can improve on aesthetics; 33 percent said a it can help fill out clothing; 22 percent said a cover helps keep the device clean; and 6 percent said that a cosmesis helps hide the device.
Part two focused the disadvantages. Of those who responded, 35 percent said covers can affect device function; 24 percent said covers add extra weight; 18 percent said covers were an added expense; and the rest chose something else, but they didn’t tell us their ideas.
