Operation Rebound, the Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF) outreach and training program for military service members and first responders, will be featured live on San Diego’s Sports Radio xx1090 AM every Tuesday morning through October 28. The approximately ten-minutes shorts, which air at about 6:45 a.m. PST, will feature talks with morning hosts Scott Kaplan and “BR” Billy Ray Smith and Operation Rebound team members.
Operation Rebound Program Manager Nico Marcolongo explained in the first segment, aired August 25, “Operation Rebound…was born at the Challenged Athletes Foundation in late 2004 to help those injured in Iraq and Afghanistan get back to leading active lifestyles. Since then, we’ve expanded the program to include vets of all eras and first responders. We thought that was important because…we have vets from Vietnam that were injured and we want to integrate them into the program-they make great mentors. Also, our firefighters, our police officers, our paramedics, they were the first ones who were hit on 9-11, so we wanted to make sure they had these opportunities as well.”
Kaplan and Smith and their Scott and BR Show also sponsor riders in the CAF Qualcom Million Dollar Challenge Fundraiser bike ride down the California coast.
