Anna Avakian, CPO, has volunteered to serve a three-month term as lead prosthetist at the Hanger Prosthetics & Orthotics clinic in Deschapelles, Haiti.
John “Jay” Tew, CP, a Hanger practitioner from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, served the first three-month term and is now transitioning his role to Avakian during a two-week training process. Avakian is a practitioner at Hanger’s Lynchburg, Virginia, patient care center.
The Hanger clinic in Deschapelles has been fully functional since February 22, and, according to a company press release, has fitted more than 300 Haitian amputees with new prosthetic limbs created at the clinic.
