U.S. Paralympians Jeremy Campbell (athletics) and Jessica Long (swimming) have won Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly (ESPY) Awards in the Best Male Athlete with a Disability and the Best Female Athlete with a Disability category, respectively. The winners were announced in a televised ceremony on July 17.

Campbell, who has a right transtibial amputation, won a gold medal in the discus F44 at the London 2012 Paralympic Games, and he also made history in April 2012 when he became the first para-athlete to throw over 60m. Long, who was born with fibular hemimelia and underwent bilateral transtibial amputations when she was 18 months old, competed in the S8/SB7/SM8 classification and won eight medals in the pool at London 2012, including five golds, two silvers, and a bronze. She also broke two new world records, an American record, and three Paralympic records.
