Floor reaction AFO

kent sluder

Hello Everyone:

I need some suggestions on a Floor reaction AFO. I have a patient with foot
drop and slight knee instability. He has used a Blue rocker and a
customized Matrix Raw in the past. He likes the Matrix AFO slightly better
because it is more flexible, but both have worked well. The problem is that
he keeps breaking his AFOs. Both types of braces have only been lasting
about 8 months to a year. He is 18 years old, about 6′ 2″ and 210lbs, and
is very activity. He wears his AFO all day, including when he is golfing,
playing baseball, and working. I’m thinking about laminating our own custom
AFO, but I’m not sure on what type of layup to use. Any suggestions on
other OTS or custom AFO options would be helpful.

Thanks
