Summary of Custom shoes post

Chris

My original post about custom molded shoes generated mostly the same
response.

A patient may receive one pair per year with 2 additional inserts and
that’s the bottom line. It appears that the “new orthotic rule” does
not apply to shoes and rules from the shoe bill of 1994 still apply
today.

Two people did say that they’ve had success billing for more than one
pair in the same year when the patient acted very aggressively as their
own advocate. They may evidently contact their onbudsman and get some
results. I doubt that my particular patient would go through the
trouble, but I will offer it as a suggestion. Thank you.
