Hi all!
Check out the CBS World News this coming Wednesday (it’s on at
6:30 PM here in NY), and you’ll most likely see me along with my
incredible patient Edgar Rivera, the man who lost both his legs
above the knee after being pushed in front of an oncoming subway
train by a mentally ill man. The CBS crew was in our office
filming this week. (Normally I wouldn’t use a patient’s name,
but since we’ve been on the news several times, he’s really
almost a household name at this point.)
I don’t know that I’ll get to speak on the program or anything,
but just to see Edgar’s determination and focus (in what has to
be one of the most adverse situations one could ever face) is
pretty inspiring. He walks quite well, too, on his preparatory
prostheses.
I believe the news piece will briefly recap his story and then
describe how the magnitude of his injuries has really slowed his
progress in his quest to walk again.
This man is truly amazing…. I am inspired by him and in awe of
him every time we work together. It has been a privilege to be
his prosthetist and I’m honored to be a part of his support
