Hello All,
I have a patient with considerable heterotopic ossification at the end of a
narrow transtibial amputation. He also has a history of skin breakdown in
the same area, though unrelated to the HO. I cast him for a custom liner,
but am now wondering what material the liner should be made from. Urethane
seems too hard for a limb like this. TPE may actually be the best material
for this particular case. That said, he also has difficulty with a
traditional liner irritating his skin over the patella, so I am thinking a
“pre-flexed” liner is also a good idea. So… any thoughts on who makes a
pre-flexed custom liner made from TPE? Any other thoughts you can think of
that I should be considering?
Thank you in advance!
