The Amputee Coalition named Jerrica Thurman as its new chief strategy and communications officer. She will lead the information technology, communications, development, and events initiatives for the organization. Her focus will be to increase awareness of limb loss and limb difference, expand the organization’s reach, and grow engagement opportunities that advance national efforts to serve people living with limb loss and limb difference.
During her nearly two-year tenure at the Amputee Coalition to date, Thurman has helped to reimagine the organization’s direction and realign execution of the deliverables for its administration for community living grant. She has also grown new departments with internal and external staff, redesigned the national conference, and developed AC Connect, an online community for people living with limb loss and limb difference. As the chief strategy and communications officer, she will continue to lead new initiatives and growth opportunities.

Thurman completed undergraduate studies in communications at Oakwood University, received a master’s degree in communications management and a certificate of strategic public relations and integrated communications from Towson University, and a master’s degree in business administration from Frostburg State University. She also studied business in China at Hunan Normal University. In 2018, she obtained the certified association executive credential provided by the American Society of Association Executives.
