Click Medical, manufacturer of kits that adjust the fit and volume in custom orthotic and prosthetic (O&P) devices, announced that the NEW Click® Reel is now available and part of Click Medical RevoFit®, RevoLock®, and RevoSurface® Kits.
The new Click Reel is stronger, more durable, can quickly be tightened AND loosened and is guaranteed for the life of the device in which it is installed. It can be found in 39 countries across the globe through O&P practitioners and distributors.
In 2014, Click Medical launched the concept of an “Adjustable Socket” adopting a dial from the BOA® Lacing System into the O&P industry changing the lives of those with limb loss and limb difference. Residual limbs naturally change in volume over time, and over the course of a day. When the user of a prosthetic device can easily self-adjust the fit to be more comfortable or to accommodate different activities, they are generally more satisfied and can lead more productive lives.
The market responded by building the BOA dial into over 100,000 adjustable sockets worldwide. “The concept of adding adjustability to O&P devices has proven successful and has improved many lives,” said Jimmy Capra, Click Medical’s co-founder and CEO. “But we were adapting technology built for other purposes and we knew we could do better. We invested 4.5 years of research and testing towards building the NEW Click® Reel technology with features that are now specifically designed to meet the needs of orthotic and prosthetic users.”
Several improvements for the O&P industry were identified and developed in the new Click® Reel including a more powerful drivetrain, intuitive interface, repeatable/reliable functionality, and easy lace attachment and replacement. As the final development stage, Click Medical completed an extensive ten-month long Beta Test which involved testing the device from the perspective of O&P practitioners, technicians and patients. Practitioners and technicians tested the Click Reel for ease of fabrication, and patients gave feedback on fit, function, ease, and performance. Based on the Beta Test, Click Medical ended up further modifications to the reel to improve functionality and installation. “The BOA dial had become an integral ingredient for many of our prosthetist customers, so It was imperative that we uphold our reputation and build customer confidence in the performance of the new Click Reel. Our Beta Test has been invaluable toward that goal,” said Brian Simmons, Click Medical VP Business Development.
Click Medical is intent that everybody with limb loss or limb difference deserves a device that fits. “If a prosthetic device fits, it functions and allows the wearer to spend more time doing what they want.” says Jen Howland, VP Marketing and INTL Sales for Click Medical. “One day user-adjustable devices will be the standard and not the exception and we are happy to lead that charge.”
