As a practice admin, your job is to make the O&P practice work. You are the (often unsung) hero of the practice. In an ideal world, you build on the vision and mission of the practice. Your goal is to create a culture of continuous learning that allows the staff to excel at executing the company’s goals. OPIE believes in and supports continuous learning and self-improvement. We believe in the power of community and that together we are smarter than any one of us. Together, we learn and grow. Lone companies will sometimes struggle to meet their obligations.
We are in a profession that relies heavily on the transfer of knowledge by a hand-me-down process. Generations sometimes teach generations, and if you are lucky, someone who did the job before you taught you what they knew. But generational knowledge does not always keep up with the times. There is a lot we need to pay attention to now—things that didn’t even exist a decade or two ago are now crucial to a well-functioning system.
