One of our recent poll questions centered on playing board games. Whether it’s playing with family or friends, on a holiday or just passing time, it seems that almost everyone enjoys board games.

Of those who responded to our question “What’s your favorite board game?” 22 percent said Monopoly; and it was a three-way tie for Scrabble, Trivial Pursuit and other favorites.

One follower said, “Apples to Apples, Cards Against Humanity, Unstable Unicorns, Dungeons and Dragons.” (We have to say yes to Apples to Apples, it’s a hoot to play!)

Other follower mentioned Scattergories!” and Codenames. We didn’t know that one. It’s a game for four or more players on two teams who guess words based on clues from their teammates. One player from each team is the spymaster, while the others play as field operatives. (Sounds pretty fun!)

Other favorites included 7Wonders, Azul, Wingspan, Parks, and the game of LIFE.

On Twitter, 50 percent of our followers who voted said Scrabble, and Trivial Pursuit and Monopoly split the difference.

Our most recent poll question focused on professional clothing in O&P. An article in the August issue of The O&P EDGE discusses how attire for healthcare professionals is interpreted for O&P clinicians. Some studies have suggested that patients prefer physicians to wear a white coat regardless of any other clothing choice. Our question “What type of professional clothing do most O&P clinicians in your facility wear when they see patients?” Of those who responded, 79 percent said business casual and skip the white coat; 11 percent said business casual including the white coat; 11 percent said business professional and no white coat, and two percent said business professional along with a white coat.

Our followers wondered why we did not include scrubs as one of the questions. Said one follower, “It was interesting to me that scrubs weren’t an option! I had worn scrubs the entirety of my 11 years in O&P across a few different workplaces until I just recently transitioned to business casual (no white coat) in my new position.” One follower offered, “The men all wear business casual with the logo embroidered on the polos. The ladies all wear fun colored/patterned scrubs” And another follower said, “Scrubs all the way!”

The latest poll question focuses on another article in the magazine’s August issue, “Challenging the Prior Authorization Denial,” which highlights the work and woes of that approval process. Our question is: “When it comes to an authorization that’s been denied, what does your facility do to try and reverse that decision?” It’s up and in full swing, and so far, our voters are saying writing a compelling appeal letter is the best thing to do. Tell us what you think. We’d love to hear from you.
