The American Academy Of Orthotists And Prosthetists (the Academy) issued a statement in support of COVID-19 vaccine for all O&P patient care providers.
“Due to the recent COVID-19 surge and the availability of safe and effective vaccines, the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists advocates that all orthotic and prosthetic (O&P) patient care providers receive the COVID-19 vaccine. Vaccination is one way that healthcare professionals can fulfill their ethical commitment to ensure the health and well-being of others,” the statement read.
With approval of a vaccine by the Federal Drug Administration, the Academy said that vaccination for O&P professionals will protect their own health and that of their colleagues and patients.
“As the healthcare community leads the way in strongly recommending vaccines for patient care providers, we hope all other organizations across the country will follow our lead and implement effective policies to encourage vaccination,” the statement concluded.
